Texting TeenIf you’re like most teens these days you have a cellphone and a wicked txt plan ’cause you text like crazy. Clint from SendTheFire thinks that we’d better be prepared to deal with ‘textaholics’ and will see people who attend TA (texters anonymous) instead of AA (alcoholics anonymous) and NA (narcotics anonymous). “Laugh if you want but just wait & see” says Clint.

It seems texting is as common a form of communication these days as talking face-to-face was for previous generations. What do you talk about? Anything and everything apparently. What started off as minor chatting, has changed to see people talking about anything and everything via text. This leaves us wondering, what’s appropriate conversation for texting?

Recently, textPlus just did a survey about what young people think is appropriate when it comes to texting. Here’s what they found.

COLLEGE & YOUNG ADULTS (18-24 years old)

  • 11% think it’s appropriate to ask for a raise via text
  • 32% say it’s ok to “call in sick” to work via text (22% have actually done it)
  • 11% think it’s alright to quit a job via text

TEENS (13-17 years old)

  • 18% think it’s appropriate to ask for a raise via text
  • 51% think it’s ok to “call in sick” to work via text
  • 20% think it’s alright to quit a job via text

HMMM

  1. Have you ever done any of these?
  2. Which of these do you totally agree with and why?
  3. Which of these do you think are ridiculous and why do you think that?
  4. How do you feel about texting at work? Cool or not cool? If it’s okay, when is it okay?

  1. I’m not the biggest texting fan at all, in fact I really really dislike it.
Though I have known people who have texted in sick.
