The Joyful Project

It’s getting closer to the end of the year, so people will soon be doing their Christmas shopping! Here’s a gift idea that doesn’t just look good, but has a great back story as well.

The Joyful Project sells merchandise produced by Freeset – a fair trade business offering employment to women trapped in Kolkata’s sex trade.

This is more than simply fabric. All of their products are made by women who are living new and empowered lives. It is a bridge that connects us with the women rescued from India’s sex trade.

Your support matters. It increases production > which means more work opportunities for these women > which means more at-risk women can leave a profession they never chose.

Here’s some details on The Joyful Project from their website:

In addition to providing our own high-quality clothing and apparel, we are hoping to team up with other projects whose ethical goals and work we value, and then design and sell limited edition apparel in support of them. In order to raise both money and awareness for these causes, we dedicate a portion of these profits to their initiatives.

Our clothing and merchandise is made in partnership with Freeset Global, which means that our goal is to provide organic, fair trade goods that are ethically sourced and created.

Started by Christian individuals who find great joy in authentic and purposeful living, THE JOYFUL PROJECT is driven by radical faith that produces radical love. We believe that Jesus meant for us to pursue relationships over just religion. We value business as a means to give back. We elevate compassion, generosity, and humanity over personal pursuit.

So there you have it. To get you started, here is a discount voucher good until the end of the year. If you’re going to buy gifts – why not make them fair trade as well?
