January Focus on Homelessness
Haiti and Haitians have been dealt a tough blow as of late with the earthquake and then a sizeable after-shock.
Life loss has been HUGE. Families have been torn apart. Their economy and infrastructure is in ruins. Tens of thousands of survivors are homeless. This is a different type of homeless than the rest of our month’s focus.
WAYS TO FIGHT FOR HAITIANS
- Financially – make a donation.
Canadians can make a $5 donation to The Salvation Army’s efforts in Haiti by texting the word HAITI to 45678 from any Rogers Wireless, Telus, Bell Mobility or Virgin Mobile phone. Donors will then receive a message asking them to confirm their donation with a YES reply.
- Phone 1-800-725-2769
FIGHT THE SPIRITUAL BATTLE
- People trapped or missing – that they will have the physical and metal stamina to survive. That they will be found/set free.
- Family & friends of deceased & missing – for comfort & peace in the midst of grief and mourning. For strength to see and cling to hope. For courage and will to carry on with life.
- Relief workers – physical and mental stamina to continue serving and helping. Protection of hearts and minds from negative impact of what they are experiencing and seeing.
